Welcome to Hope Baptist men's group. We are excited about the next men's study we will begin April 7 at 6 PM. Last year's studies continued to build on our Chrst centered focus.

Dennis Rainey did an amazing job taking us through the different stages of life and showing us how God uses us regardless of where we are at age wise. As iron sharpens iron we seen the blessings from having the courage to speak out and be used by God. We shared our thoughts, past testimonies, and grew closer as brothers in Christ.

J.D. Greear's Daniel study, “Faithful in the Fire” was a great follow up study. We walked through Daniel and discussed how God blessed Daniel for his obedience in a pagan world. Daniel's faithfulness in his younger years prepared him for the capture and roles he would be placed in. God will and does provide all we need to glorify Him in all we do regardless of our circumstances.

Our new study from John MacArthur, Twelve Ordinary Men: How the Master Shaped His Disciples for Greatness, and What He Wants to Do with You., we will learn our we don’t have to be perfect to do God’s work. We have to look no further than the twelve disciples, whose many weaknesses are forever preserved throughout the pages of the New Testament. John MacArthur draws principles from Christ’s careful, hands on training of the original disciples for today’s modern disciple, you!

Jesus chose ordinary men-fishermen, tax collectors, political zealots—and turned their weakness into strength, producing greatness from people who were otherwise unremarkable. The twelve disciples weren’t the stained-glass saints we imagine. On the contrary, they were truly human, all too prone to mistakes, misstatements, wrong attitudes, lapses of fatih, and bitter failure. Simply put, they were flawed people, just like us. But under Jesus’ teaching and tough, they became a force that forever changed the world.

MacArthur will take us into the inner circle of the disciples—their selection, their training, their personalities, and their incredible impact. As MacArthur took a closer look at the lives of the twelve disciples, he found himself asking difficult questions along the way, including:

  • Why did Jesus pick each of the twelve disciples?

  • How did Jesus teach them everything he could in just eighteen short months?

  • Can the lessons that Jesus taught the disciples still influence our faith today?

In Twelve Ordinary Men, we will learn that disciples are living proof that God’s strength is made perfect in weakness. As we get to know the men who walked with Jesus, we will see that if He can accomplish His purposes through the, He can do the same with us.

Come join us this Sunday, April 7 at 6 PM.

God bless,

Mark Anderson
